413 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND SHIER, Allan Glen Allan was born in Cochrane, Ontario on November 29, 1940. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1959 with the RCAF Central Transport Supply (Port of Trenton 427). He ranked LAC and when stationed in Downsview, Allan was part of preparations for the “Cuban Missile Crisis” where his unit known for “Long Distance Hauling” began transporting supplies including everything from nails to T-33 Engines. He was discharged in 1963. Allan has been a member of the Cochrane Legion Branch 89 for over 42 years. SHILLING, Albert Leroy Albert was born in Rama First Nation, Ontario on August 6, 1897. He enlisted in the Army on February 26, 1916 and served with the 177th Overseas Battalion, 19th Battalion in England, Canada and France during World War I. He was discharged on April 4, 1919. He was the son of Jeremiah Shilling and Mary Elliot and was a brother to Silas, Ambrose and Laura. SHIER, Glen Edward Glen was born in Hunta, Ontario on September 29, 1919. He enlisted in the Army on March 21, 1945 with the Royal Canadian Engineers during World War II. He did his basic training in Petawawa and served in Canada. He ranked Sapper and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He was a member of the Legion Branch 89 Cochrane and was for over fifty years. Glen passed away on September 1, 2008.
