411 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND SHELLY, Edward Brailsford “Ted” Edward was born on December 14, 1940 in St. Thomas, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on July 15, 1957 in London with RCASC, Regular Force, as a solider apprentice posted to Camp Borden. He was discharged on April 10, 1961. He has been a member of the Legion Branch 524 for 23 years. SHEPPARD, George McCallum George was born in Lansdowne, Ontario on July 5, 1917. In October 1940, he reported to Brockville Rifles Infantry. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II on November 7, 1940 with British Common Wealth Air Training Plan. In June 1941 he was called up to RCAF Rockcliffe, Ottawa and sent to basic training at CNE Toronto in September 1941. He was stationed at many areas including: CFS Trenton, #5 ITS Belleville; #14 EFTS in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba where after 7.5 hours he made his first solo on January 18, 1942; #11 SFTS Yorkton Saskatchewan and on July 17, 1941 George won his wings, #2 FIS in Vulcan, Alberta; #9 SFTS Centralia as Pilot Instructor and #1 IFS Deseronto as Instrumental Flying Instructor. On August 3, 1943 George and his student crashed but were ok. George was discharged on January 24, 1945. He was a member of the Legion Branch 92 Gananoque, Ontario and was for 25 years. George passed away on March 3, 2007. SHELLY, Sidney George Sidney was born in Manchester, England on April 14, 1916. He moved to Canada at age sixteen to work in a farm. He enlisted in the Army during World War II with the RCAC. He served in Canada and was medically discharged on November 18, 1942. He was a school teacher and was Padre of Legion Branch 524 for many years until his death on July 6, 1983.
