393 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ROGERS, George Wesley George was born in Elora, Ontario on August 31, 1921. He enlisted in the Army on January 11, 1941 with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. He served in Canada, England, France, Belgium and Holland during World War II. He was discharged on March 14, 1946. He received the 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the Defence Medal with Clasp. He was a wireless operator for three years and eight months. He worked at Beatty Bros in Fergus for 38 years. He was married to Jean and raised four children. He was a Life Member of Elora Legion Branch 229. George passed away on September 26, 1988. ROGERS, John Henry John was born on May 28, 1923 in Elora, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on January 11, 1941 in Chippawa, Ontario. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean Area and Continental Europe during World War II. He was discharged on January 26, 1946. John received the 1939-1945 Star, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He was a member of the Elora Legion Branch 229 for over 65 years. John passed away on December 21, 2011. ROGERS, James Wesley James was born on June 24, 1894 in Fleming, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army Cavalry on January 12, 1916. He was wounded in the Battle of Amiens and he also fought at Vimy Ridge. He was with the 20th Battalion, prior to this service for one year. He served in England and France during World War I. He married Florence and raised eleven children. James was a Life Member of the Flora Legion Branch 229. He passed away on October 19, 1980.
