385 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND RIVERS, Raymond J. Raymond was born on March 11, 1920 in Midland, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on September 18, 1942 with the Highland Light Infantry. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during World War II. He was discharged on February 11, 1946. He was a member of the Scarborough Legion Branch 13 for thirty years. Raymond passed away in 1992. ROBERTSON, Henry Johnston Henry was born in Toronto on November 1, 1913. He enlisted in the Toronto Scottish Regiment in 1930. He joined the Army Active Service Force during World War II on September 3, 1939 and embarked overseas on December 7, 1939. He was sent to France in 1940 as part of the aborted attempt to keep France in the war. He was the Regimental Transport Sergeant for three years. Harry briefly returned to Canada as an escort for German prisoners being interned in Canada in January 1942. He transferred to the Provost Corps in 1943 and served in Sicily and mainland Italy until he returned to Canada in December 1944. He was discharged on June 2, 1945. The Queen Mother made a point of talking to Harry on her visit to the Toronto Scottish in 1989. In addition to his campaign medals Harry was awarded the Canadian Efficiency Medal. He passed away on November 4, 1989. ROBERTSON, George Morrison Archibald “Archie” Archie was born in Fergus, Ontario on March 7, 1923. He enlisted in the Army in January 1941 with the 12 Field Regiment out of Guelph, Ontario – Royal Canadian Artillery. He died of his wounds in France in the Normandy Invasion on July 5, 1944. He had been overseas for three years. Before his enlistment he was widely known as an outstanding lacrosse player. His younger brother Private Jim Robertson also served during the war in Italy with the 48th Highlanders.
