379 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND REYNOLDS, Clarence William Clarence was born in Foresters Falls, Ontario on March 5, 1921. During World War II, he enlisted in the Army in the Algonquin Regiment in Timmins, Ontario on March 13, 1940. He later transferred to the Royal Canadian Regiment. Clarence served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Sicily, Italy and Continental Europe. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the 1939-1945 Star, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the War Medal 1939-1945. He was discharged on October 12, 1945 and returned to Northern Ontario where he worked as a miner and later as an operator with the Canadian Northland Railway. He met his future wife Cassie Hannan at Porquis Junction. They had four children, James (deceased), Linda, Isabelle and Bill. He was a proud member of the Englehart Legion Branch 104. Clarence passed away on November 18, 1970 at the age of 49. RIDLEY, Clayton Evan “Ting” Ting was born in Warwick Township on June 23, 1921. He enlisted in the Army on March 2, 1942 with the RCR Regiment. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, England and the Central Mediterranean Area during World War II. He was wounded and has a scar on his left shin lower/third also on his shoulder where shrapnel had been taken out. He drove a water truck to the front line. He was discharged on April 30, 1946. He received the 1939-1945 Star, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. In September 1946 he was married. He bought gravel truck then worked for Husband Transport and Ken Matthews Consolidated Truck Line as driver and dispatcher. He lived in Arkona and had five children. He was a member of the Thedford Legion Branch 278. Ting passed away on May 30, 2001. RICHARDSON, John Andrew John was born in St. Marys, Ontario on November 16, 1919. He enlisted in the Air Force on March 9, 1942 with the 424 Squadron. He was posted overseas in January 1943 and he served in North Africa from July through to October 1943. He returned to England in November 1943 and served on heavy bombers until October 1944. He commissioned on December 6, 1943 and was promoted to Flying Officer in June 1944. He returned home in January 1945 and was discharged on March 26, 1945. He was awarded a DFC as well as an Operational Wing, the 1939-1945 Star, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Air Bomber’s Flying Badge. He was a member of St. Marys Legion Branch 236. John passed away on November 10, 2009.
