371 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PURMAL, Rodney Rodney was born in Toronto on July 17, 1925. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on September 23, 1943. After graduating in Manitoba, he went to serve in England with the Coastal Command during World War II. He did a light Coastal Flying off Scotland. He was discharged on September 7, 1945. Rodney was a member of the Bolton/Simcoe Legion Branches for 22 years. He passed away on January 6, 2008. READ, James James was born Norfolk, England on October 6, 1913. He enlisted in the Army in 1943 and served with the Royal Corp of Engineers in Nova Scotia during World War II. Before enlisting in the Army he worked at Peddlars making Munitions. After his discharge on March 25, 1945 he worked at Duplate Canada until he retired in 1973. He was a member of the Legion Branch 419 and 43 where he received a fifty-year service pin. James passed away on June 8, 2001. RAGIN, Murray Wesley Murray was born in McGillivary Township, Middlesex on December 1, 1926. He enlisted the Army in 1943 and joined the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals in London. He enlisted in the Armoured Corps (RECCE) in April 1945. He volunteered for Canada’s 6th Division destined for Pacific Theatre to be attached to U.S. Army. Murray left Camp Borden for Camp Vernon (BC) on August 13, 1945. He returned to Wolsely barracks for discharge on August 22, 1945. He has been a member of the Legion Branch 109 Goderich for seven years.
