365 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PLUNKETT, Hector Alexander Hector was born in Brockville, Ontario on November 22, 1894. He enlisted in the Army in Ottawa, Ontario on November 8, 1916. He had previous training in the Signal Corps, Kingston and assigned to the 38th Canadian Infantry Battalion on July 5, 1917. The 38th was assigned to the front in Avion, France for August and September 1917, then Ypres in October, part of the Passchendaele operations, defending the outlying areas of town. In December he was again at Avion. Hector was invalided sick to England in April 1918. He then served six months with the 6th Reserve, in England before discharge and home in January 1919. After his discharge, he was employed for eighteen months with the Department of Soldiers Civil Re-establishment in Ottawa. He enlisted for World War II, in Gravenhurst on May 4, 1943. He was employed in Co9 Veterans Guard of Canada. He served from 1943 to 1945 in Canada, a guard at South River Prisoner of War Camp #10 and then at Gravenhurst Prisoner of War Camp #33. Hector passed away on December 12, 1952. POULIN, Gerard Gaston Gerard was born in Mattice, Ontario on January 16, 1922. He joined the Army in 1942 during War World II with No. 4 Service Flying Training School, 406 Sqn. He served as Corporal in Canada and was discharged in 1946. Gerard received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, Defence Medal and the 1939-1945 Star. Gerry returned to civilian life and worked for Brewers Retail Ontario until his retirement. Gerry was a member of Hearst Legion Branch 173 for over 25 years. Gerard passed away on October 4, 1984. POTTER, Warrie Joseph Charles Warrie was born in Bronte, Ontario on August 20, 1893. He enlisted in the Army in February 1916 during World War I with the Canadian Infantry, 19th Division. He served in Europe and was killed while serving on August 15, 1917 – Battle Hill #70 in Lens, France. He was killed from Artillery Fire. His brother was wounded in the same battle for Hill #70.
