361 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PERRYMAN, Elwood Thomas Elwood was born in Acton, Ontario on December 18, 1922. He enlisted in the Army and served in Italy during World War II. He was wounded on in Italy, while serving there he married Dorothy Moore in 1947. He was killed in Wawa while working as a trucker on June 16, 1961. PETTY, Roy Stanley Roy was born in Cambridge (Galt), Ontario on August 9, 1922. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served as an L Stocker Mechanic with the 797, 65th Canadian MTB Flotilla on the English Channel in England during World War II. His boat was the last boat in the 65th Flotilla to be commissioned and was picked up in Scotland. Later, he worked off Ostend just after the disastrous fire. He loved the Flotilla even though he was seasick all the time. Because of his interest in diesels and mechanic, he was put on a Q-Boat. He liked the small boats and the close knit crews. On returning home to Cambridge, he owned and operated Petty’s Specialized Service Garage until his retirement. He was a member of Galt Legion Branch 121 for 63 years. Roy passed away on July 24, 2013. PETERSON, George Joseph George was born on November 9, 1920 in Waterloo, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on April 9, 1942 in Kitchener. During World War II, George served as driver mechanic in Canada and in Europe. He returned to Canada and was discharged on March 16, 1946. George had two sons with his wife Stella, and lived in Kitchener. George was a member of the Waterloo Legion, Branch 530 for 46 years before passing away at the age of 97 on January 14, 2018.
