355 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PATTERSON, Stuart W. Stuart was born on April 8, 1926 in Rodney, Ontario. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy on March 9, 1944 and was sent to Cornwallis, NS for basic training during World War II. He was assigned to HMCS Prestonian on November 18, 1944 as part of escort group 28 based out of Halifax. At the end of the war in Europe, Stuart volunteered for service in the Pacific. He was discharged on January 4, 1946. Upon discharge Stuart returned to Rodney where he farmed as well as worked for Union Gas for thirty years. He helped found Rodney Legion Branch 525, and also founded Rodney Christian Mission. Stuart continues to serve as Pastor at the Mission as well as Chaplin for Branch 525. He also volunteered at Parkwood hospital a Veterans facility in London, Ontario for 45 years. Stuart and his wife Betty have been married for 64 years and have five children. PEACOCK, Stuart Carlyle Stuart was born in Owen Sound, Ontario on February 14, 1912. He enlisted in the Army with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corp. He served during World War II in Debert, Nova Scotia and England. He was awarded the Canadian Defence Medal, 1939-1945 Medal, Volunteer Service Medal and 1953 Coronation Medal. Following his discharge, Stuart ran a Guide Boat in Tobermory. He and his wife operated Peacock Villa and the Mariner Motel. He was a member of Tobermory Legion Branch 290. Stuart passed away on May 24, 1966. PAUL, Eric E. Eric was born in Charlton Mackrell, Somerset, England on March 15, 1925. He enlisted in the Royal Navy on August 18, 1943 during World War II as a Radio Mechanic. He took Flight Training in January 1944 with the British Royal Navy. He served in England, Canada, Ceylon and England before his discharge on March 26, 1947. He was married in 1946 and moved to Canada in 1947. He worked for Bell Canada for 36 years. Eric passed away on May 1, 2016.
