353 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PARRY, Desmond W. Desmond was born in Buffalo, NY on January 31, 1925. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on August 23, 1943 and served in Canada during World War II. He was discharged on February 20, 1946 at the rank of LAC. He was employed with the Department of National Revenue as a customs inspector. He was a member of Frontier Legion Branch 71 for 58 years. Desmond passed away on August 5, 2012. PATERSON, Murray James Murray was born in Owen Sound, Ontario on July 12, 1923. He enlisted the Scots Fusiliers of Canada on June 26, 1940 and served in France and Germany during World War II. He was discharged on April 26, 1946. He re-enlisted on February 10, 1958 and served in the Provost Corp until he was honourably discharged on December 30, 1965. He was posted to Soest, Germany from 1962 to 1965 and was joined by his wife Kay and his two daughters Teri and Sue. Murray was a Hanover Legion member for many years. He passed away on May 18, 1985. PATCHELL, Orland Doyle Orland was born in Southampton, Ontario on June 26, 1919. He was raised in Amabel Township and later farmed in Arran Township. He enlisted in the Army on June 20, 1942 and served with the Royal Canadian Corps in Canada during World War II. He had the rank of Sergeant. Orland was discharged on April 10, 1946. He married Bernice Belfield on April 19, 1944 while training in troops in Amherst, Nova Scotia and had eight children. Orland was an energetic member of Gay Lea and was a Director. He was also a member of the Agricultural Society and the Tara Legion Branch 383. Orland was killed while on vacation in Texas during an armed robbery on January 28, 1984. He is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Tara.
