341 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND O’HARA, Harold Robert Harold was born in Lorne Park Port Credit, Ontario on April 13, 1890. He enlisted in the Army on August 12, 1915 with the Fifth BN Canadian Railway Troops. Before enlisting he was employed as operating engineer with the Canada Foundry. He served in England and France during World War I. Harold was killed in action in France on August 2, 1918. He left behind his parents, William and Sarah, his Wife, Annie, sons, Robert and Gordon along with his daughters Ruth and Myrtle – whom he had never met. He is Remembered with Honour at the Aire Communal Cemetery. O’HEARN, Wilfrid “Wilf” Wilfrid was born in Toronto, Ontario on December 31, 1924. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1943 during World War II. He served as an Equipment Technician in Aircraft Parts at numerous air force bases in every province except Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He was sent to Germany in 1946 on occupational duties. Upon his discharge in July 1946 he returned to his pre-war job as a Bellman at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. In December 1950, he was hired in to the Toronto Fire Department, where he rose through the ranks, retiring as District Chief in December 1988. He has been an active member of the Toronto Firefighter War Veterans Association since 1951. Wilf has been a member of the Milton Wesley Legion Branch 426 in Newmarket for three years. O’HEARN, James Robert “Jimmy” Jimmy was born in Penetanguishene on February 18, 1919. He was known as a rink rat in the old Osbourne Arena and spent much of his life either as a hockey player or coach. He started his hockey career in 1937-38 when he played Junior B in his home town. His hockey career then included playing for the Midland Intermediates, and the Sudbury Wolves prior to his military career. Jimmy joined the Army on March 13, 1942 and served in Holland before being discharged on January 11, 1946 in Toronto at the rank of Corporal. After the war, Jimmy returned to his hockey career playing for the Penetang Canadians Intermediate B team, the Hamilton Pats of the OHA Senior A, the Ottawa Senators of the QSHL and then to the Lachine Rapids of the QPHL before finally settling with the Aurora Indians of the OHA Senior B in 1949 to 1950. He eventually retired and returned to his roots and coached a Jr. C. club to the Georgian Bay Championship. From 1970 to 1975, Jimmy was employed with the Penetanguishene Parks and Recreation Department and was always available to help out the young hockey players with advice and instruction. Jimmy passed away in January 1976.
