333 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND NASH, Anthony B. Anthony was born in Colon, Panama, South America on February 14, 1914. He served in the Army during World War II in Holland, Amsterdam. During the war, he served as a cook as well as an electrician ahead and behind the troops. He encountered a few minor injuries but came home safe. After his discharge, he worked many jobs as a baker, a gas fitter, a salesperson, carpenter and mechanic. Anthony passed away on July 4, 1984. NASH, Robert Harry Ernest Robert was born on March 1, 1927 in Toronto, Ontario. He enlisted in the R.C.N.V.R. on May 2, 1945 upon completion of high school. He had previously served with the Sea Cadets. He served on board HMCS Star in Canada during World War II His service with the R.C.N.V.R. was cut short as the war ended. Robert was granted honourable discharge on August 17, 1945. After the war Robert served several years as a Sea Cadet Officer. He was also president of both the Guelph Branch and Ontario Division of The Royal Canadian Legion. He is a proud member of Guelph Naval Veterans. He is a strong supporter of the Sea Cadet Program for our youth. NASH, Harold J. Harold was born on February 21, 1926 in Toronto, Ontario. Harold joined the Army during World War II in February1944 at the age of seventeen and a half. He enrolled in the RCA and later transferred to the Royal Canadian Engineers and was sent to England. He served in North West Europe with the 32nd. One of his most distasteful duties was in the clean-up of Belsen-Bergan Concentration Camp. On arrival the stench was terrible with dead bodies everywhere. He also saw duty in Egypt (UNEF) and Alert in Canada’s far north in Peacetime. He served until 1967 when he was honourably discharged. He moved to Coe Hill in 1987 and has continuously served in the Legion to the present. He currently resides in a senior’s home in Ajax with his long time wife Joan.
