323 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MONTGOMERY, Robert Christopher Robert was born in December 1898 in Manitoulin Island, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army with the 227th Battalion on February 18, 1917. He served in Canada, England and France during World War I with the 102nd Battalion earning the British War and Victory Medals. He was discharged at Toronto on June 8, 1919. During the war he suffered from the poison gas attacks which affected his health for the remainder of his life. Robert passed away on April 28, 1946. MOORE, James R. James was born on September 3, 1926 in Windsor, Ontario. During World War II, he enlisted in the Navy on March 3, 1943 with the RCNVR. He made several trips across the Atlantic to Ireland serving on the corvette, HMCS Eyebright, on convoy duty. He spent the latter part of the war on gate duty outside the harbour in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was discharged on September 26, 1945. After the war, he joined the O.P.P. serving in Goderich. He finished as a civilian in the radio room at O.P.P. Detachment No. 6, Mount Forest. James passed away on December 4, 2006. He was a Legion member for 28 years. MOORE, Harold David Harold was born on February 29, 1924 in Arnprior, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on October 23, 1939 with the SD&G Highlanders. He served in Canada and England during World War II. He was wounded GSW right shoulder on April 9, 1945. He was awarded with the MM. Harold was discharged on July 25, 1945. He has been a member of the Legion Branch 426 for fifteen years.
