321 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MILNE, James Alexander “Jim” Jim was born in 1895 in Saginaw, Michigan, USA. He was raised on a farm near Eden Mills, Ontario and joined the Army in Guelph, Ontario on September 13, 1915. He served in Canada, England and France with the 73rd Battalion during World War I. He was in England when his brother John was wounded so their parents sailed to England to visit them and returned home only a few days when word came that Jim had been killed. He was killed in action on November 12, 1916 at Pas de Calais, France. MOCON, Edward John “Teddy” Teddy was born on January 30, 1915 in Toronto, more specially Mimico. Teddy enlisted in the Army in September 1941. After basic training he was sent overseas to England, and then to France, Belgium, Holland and finally Germany during World War II. He returned home in February 1946. Teddy, as he was known to friends was a shy person, a good man and considered a hero to his family. He passed away in 2003. MILNE, John Alexander John was born on February 24, 1893 in Saginaw, Michigan, USA. John was a teamster at Guelph Ontario Reformatory before joining the Army on February 4, 1915 in Guelph. He served in Canada, England, France and Belgium with the 1st, 2nd and 36th Battalions during World War I. He was wounded while serving in Messines, Belgium and spent many months in hospitals before being discharged on March 16, 1917. After recovery he spent the remainder of his life farming near Eden Mills, Ontario. He was a member of the Acton Legion Branch 197. John passed away in June 1983.
