309 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MICHALSKI, Mike Mike was born in the Ukraine on November 1, 1923. He enlisted in the Army on January 27, 1943. He served during World War II in Holland, France and Germany. He was discharged from the Army on May 2, 1946. Mike passed away on May 13, 1990. MILDON, Albert George “Albert Senior” Albert was born in London, England on March 29, 1884. Three months before his 32nd birthday, Albert, an accountant, enlisted in the Army on January 3, 1916 in the 124th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, in Toronto. That unit had been conducting intensive recruiting throughout the city at the time and over a threeweek period had enlisted almost 1200 men including Albert Senior. The 124th was sent to England during World War I in August 1916 when Albert was assigned to the Canadian Army Pay Corps and was stationed in Liphook, Whitley and the CAPC’s HQ in London. Albert Senior, a sergeant, received the British War Medal and returned home honourably released on demobilization in February 1919. Albert Senior passed away on November 13, 1943. MILDON, Albert David “Dave” Albert, the son of Albert Harry, was born on June 27, 1937 in Toronto, Ontario. Dave joined the Royal Canadian Navy out of High School in September 1955. He entered as a Naval Cadet and after two years was promoted to Midshipman. A further year of Qualifying Courses saw him promoted to Sub Lieutenant and sent to sea in HMCS Skeena. Dave earned his Bridge Watchkeeping Certificate and qualified as a Clearance Diver. HMCS Skeena was part of the 2nd Escort Squadron based in Esquimalt, a suburb of Victoria, BC. The late 1950’s and early 60’s were the times of the Cold War and Skeena actively played her part in the onerous and challenging North Pacific patrols. He was discharged on April 24, 1961. On completion of his service, Dave returned to Ontario with his new wife. Dave is a thirty year member of the Milton Wesley Legion Branch 426, Newmarket, Ontario.
