289 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MARTIN, Stafford Edward Stafford was born on July 11, 1916 in Winona, Ontario to Edna (Owen) and Edward Martin. Edward Marin was an architect and long-time superintendent of the Yonge St, Methodist Church in Toronto. Stafford enlisted during World War II on September 8, 1939 in the Regular Army and was assigned to the 2nd Division Supply Column of the R.C.A.S.C. He spent time at Camp Borden before going overseas in September 1940. He served in the UK and Continental Europe and was discharged on June 12, 1945 with the rank of Corporal. Stafford immediately took courses in electronics and radio circuitry. He moved to Niagara Falls in June 1949, he worked at Stamford Collegiate and shortly thereafter at Cyanamid of Canada as an Instrument Technician, until his retirement in 1981. Stafford passed on September 11, 1997 and is survived by his wife, three sons, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Legion in Niagara Falls. MASTERSON, Albert Sidney “Sid” Albert was born in 1916. He enlisted in the Army in July 1944 with the Lincoln & Welland Regiment, Canadian Army Corp. He served in Holland during World War II. Private Albert Sidney (Sid) Masterson was killed in action on April 22, 1945 in Holland and is buried in Holten, in the Canadian War Cemetery in Overijessel, Netherlands. MASON, Albert Victor Albert was born on August 26, 1919 in Peterborough, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on April 1, 1942 and was discharged on January 31, 1946. Albert served during World War II in France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, and England with the Stormont Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders. Upon discharge, Albert returned to his job at Canadian General Electric in Peterborough and retired after 43 years of service. He married Dorothy Pearson and had three children. Albert’s medals include the Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour from France. Albert was a proud member of Legion Branch 52, in Peterborough for 71 years until his death in July 2015.
