269 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LEPAGE, Bernard Henry J. Bernard was born in Penetanguishene, Ontario on January 21, 1955. He enlisted in the Navy on June 21, 1972 with the Canadian Armed Forces (Regular Component) as Marine Engineering Mechanic. His assignments included CFRS Cornwallis, CFFS Halifax, HMCS Athabaskan and HMCS Nipigon. Corporal Bernard Henry Joseph Lepage was honourably released on May 11, 1977. Bernard has been a member of the Legion Branch 68 for 42 years. LINCOLN, John John was born on December 2, 1876 in Great Ellingham Norfolk Co England. He enlisted in the Army during World War I on May 28, 1915 with the Canadian Infantry 15th Battalion, 48th Highlanders. On July 15, 1917 he wrote a letter to his oldest son saying he would be home soon. He was killed one month later, August 15, 1917, in N.E. of Loos. LIGHTFOOT, Donald Wilfred “Don” Don was born in Strathroy, Ontario on July 19, 1922. He enlisted in the Canadian Army (Active) on August 21, 1942 at #1 District Depot London, ON. After his initial and trades training at Chatham, CFB Borden and Windsor, ON he served with the Armoured Corps and later on with the Perth Regiment. Don also served as an instructor with the #8 Canadian Infantry Training Regiment (CITR). On December 23, 1944 he sailed to England and eventually was part of the Canadian Army Occupation Force in Holland, He actually stayed with a Dutch family in Sneek, Holland. One of his duties was to guard the food trains. His medals include the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. Don was honourably discharged on August 14, 1946 at the rank of Corporal. He was a member of the Sir Arthur Currie Legion Branch 116. Don passed away on March 25, 2000.
