247 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND KISH, Archie Archie was born in Bedford Township, Frontenac County on July 25, 1883. He enlisted in the Army on February 18, 1916 with the 146 Battalion 4 CMR 3rd Division during World War I. He served in Canada, England, France and Belgium and through Vimy, Hill 70 and Passchendaele. He had a brother killed prior to Passchendaele. Archie was gassed in September 1917 and hospitalized before being repatriated to England for slow recovery. He stayed in England working with the repatriation team until he returned home in 1919. He was discharged on September 20, 1919. Archie passed away in 1956 and is buried in Latimer Cemetery-Frontenac County. KISH, George Erling “Erl” George was born in Inverary, Ontario on January 3, 1935. He enlisted in the Army on July 10, 1953 with the RCASC and RCEME. He served for thirty years in Canada, Germany, Cyprus, Egypt, Tanzania and Norway. After thirty years of service, he retired as a CWO. He worked as a technical writer after retirement with tours in Sweden and Austria. He retired from the field in 1994. He is an active member of the Legion and has been for over forty years, beginning with Branch 595 Ottawa, 560 Kingston and currently 496 Sydenham. These active years had results which culminated in a stint as Provincial President Ontario Command for two years from 2003 to 2005 and as a Dominion Vice President for four years from 2006 to 2010. Currently still an active member, serving as Veterans services/sick and visiting for Branch 496. KISH, Edward Edward was born in Frontenac County-Bedford Township on April 2, 1889. He enlisted in the Army on December 14, 1915 with the 146th Battalion CEF and served in Canada during World War I. He moved back home from NY State to answer the call. He was accepted but later released on September 30, 1916 as medically unfit. Edward died four years later on January 29, 1920 at the age of 31 of diabetes.
