243 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND KING, William Lloyd Richard Lloyd was born in Thorold Township, County of Welland, Ontario on August 27, 1923. He was the only son of William and Clara King. He enlisted in the Army with the Midland Regiment and saw active duty at Prince Rupert, BC on February 18, 1943. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe and the Central Mediterranean area during World War II. He was awarded a France and Germany Star, 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. He was discharged on October 5, 1945 and returned to civilian life. He was an active member and past President of the Fonthill Legion 613 and an active member of the Fonthill Lion’s Club. Lloyd passed away on December 2, 2007. KISH, Albert “Bert” Bert was born in Frontenac County on October 7, 1888. He enlisted in the Army on February 24, 1915 with the 2nd Battalion, Eastern Ontario Regiment during World War I. He had moved to NY State but returned home to answer his country’s call leaving his immediate family behind. He served in Canada, England, France and Belgium. Bert was killed in action on December 6, 1915 in Belgium, just ten months after joining; he is buried at a farm cemetery Belgium. KIRKBY, Hilton T. Hilton was born in Domville, Ontario on November 18, 1917. He was a farmer with his father and enlisted in the Army on December 31, 1940 with Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders. He served as Infantry in Canada, England and Northwest Europe during World War II. He was injured and returned home in 1945. He was discharged on November 26, 1945. Hilton passed away on July 26, 1986.
