241 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND KING, John John served during World War I in the Army. He was gassed, suffered from shell shock and became deaf in later years. After John’s discharge he worked many odd jobs. KING, William George William was born in Marsh Gibbon, Buckinghamshire, England on February 19, 1884. He enlisted in the Army on March 4, 1916 with the 50th Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force. He served in Canada, France and Vimy during World War I as a Corporal. While he was serving in France on August 24, 1916 William was killed in action by a sniper. He is buried in Ridgewood Military Cemetery in Ypres Belgium, Plot 3, Row 6 Grave 9. KING, John Amassa “Jack” Jack was born in Elmira, Ontario on February 1, 1897. He was a student at the U of T when he joined the Forces in 1917 as a member of the Dentistry Corps. He later became a Sergeant in the Machine Gun Corps and was hospitalized after a German mustard gas attack. He served in France during World War I. He was discharged on November 30, 1918. After his return to Canada, he practiced dentistry in Windsor and Delhi, ON. He married Wilhelmina Day in 1928. They had three children.
