227 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND JORDAN, Melvin Leroy Melvin was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan on September 24, 1924. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Tank Guard Unit Canada during World War II in France and Germany. He was discharged on August 10, 1946. He was a member of the Acton Legion Branch 197. Melvin passed away on September 4, 1980. KANE, Herbert E. Herbert was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on March 20, 1937. He served as a Reservist from November 19, 1959 to November 13, 1963 with the Merchant Navy on the High Seas. He served on the Norwegian ship “Salina”, Alder Park, Elk Island Park and Glacier Park. He was a coast guard on Sir William Alexander, Cable Guardian in Transatlantic and various Great Lake Carriers. He served fulltime during Peacetime. Herbert is a member of Canadian Merchant Navy Veterans Association, Hamilton Navy Veterans Association and Royal Hamilton Light Infantry Veterans Association. He is a fifteen year Legion member at Branch 622 in Stoney Creek, Ontario. JOSLIN, Kenneth Roy Kenneth was born in Hamilton, Ontario on June 29, 1924. He enlisted in the A&SH of C in May 1941 while he was in high school and in May 1943 enlisted in the Active Service Force. He was commissioned in the Armoured Corps in October 1943 and transferred to the Infantry Corps in 1945. He served as a Lieutenant in training establishments in Canada as a student and as an instructor until December 1945. He attained an Engineering degree from the U of T in 1950. In 1949, he enrolled in the Regular Army as a Lieutenant in the RCEME. He served in AHQ and several RCEME units in Canada and Germany. He qualified as a Technical Staff Officer at the Royal Military College of Science in the United Kingdom in 1957 and returned to the College in 1967 as a Lt Col on the Directing Staff. After unification he served as a Senior Officer in two Canadian Forces Schools and in CFHQ until retirement in 1975. He was discharged on June 29, 1989. He was awarded the CD with one bar. Kenneth has been a member of Legion Branch 34 Orillia for 43 years.
