205 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HUBBARD, Harold James Harold was born in 1888 in London, England. He immigrated to Canada to live in Toronto, Ontario. Harold enlisted during World War I in the Canadian Army on November 2, 1915 in the 95th Battalion and embarked from Halifax on May 31, 1916 on SS Olympia. He disembarked in Liverpool on June 8, 1916 and trained at Camp Shornecliffe in England. The 95th Battalion broke up and the members were used to fill in other Battalions. At the time of enlisting he listed his next of kin as Rose Large, his sister, whose husband George Large also served in World War I. HUFFMAN, Russell Emerson Russell was born on April 3, 1925 in Massey, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army during World War II on January 12, 1944. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean, and Continental Europe. He was discharged on June 18, 1946 and received the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He was a member of the Legion in Massey. Russell passed away on December 5, 1996. HUESTIS, Gervace Smith Gervace was born in Toronto on January 20, 1918. He started a career in Professional Golf as a caddy and then served as assistant Professional at the Ladies Golf Club in Thornhill, Ontario from 1938 to 1940. In 1940, he married Nora Elliott and gave up his golf career for a steady job with the Postal Service. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in November 1944 and served in Canada with the Royal Canadian Engineers during World War II. He was released from active duty in May 1946. He continued to work for the Postal Service until his retirement in 1973, when he continued to work at a golf course owned by his son and daughterin-law for several years. Gervace passed away in July 2003 at the age of 85.
