He enlisted in the Army and served in Canada and England during World War II from 1939-1946 as Regimental Sergeant Major. He passed away on May 9, 1987 and is buried in Hanover Cemetery. SKINNER, Dorothea E. “Dot” Dot was born in Stisted Township, Muskoka, Ontario on January 6, 1913. She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force (Women’s Division) on November 22, 1943. She was the first teacher to enlist in the RCAF Women’s Division. She served as Clerk Ops Flying Control at Moncton and Scoudouc, New Brunswick during World War II. The clerks monitored, recorded and transmitted data for the Eastern Air Command. After discharge on November 2, 1945, Dot resumed teaching in Toronto. She completed a B.A. and Master of Education. Dot campaigned to bring better resources to special education. She was a leader in the development of classes to assist exceptional children and was the first Itinerant Limited Vision teacher for Toronto Board of Education. Dot passed away in 2009. SINCLAIR, Benjamin S. “Ben” Ben was born in Mount Albert, Ontario on March 27, 1920. He enlisted in the Army in August 1942 and served as Gunner in Canada during World War II. He was honourably discharged in January 1946. Upon discharge, Ben farmed for ten years and then went into the construction field ultimately owning his own grader where he worked for the Town of East Gwillimbury and Region of York. He held many positions with the Mount Albert Legion Branch 382 and was made a Life Member. Ben passed away on January 6, 2001.
