487 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ROWSWELL, Jack Edward Jack was born in London, Ontario on November 28, 1931. He served with the Canadian Military from November 8, 1954 to retirement on July 11, 1979 as a Master Corporal. He served in the Middle East, Germany and Petawawa with the RCOC during Peacetime. Serving 25 years until retirement Jack went on to Work on his specialty field of “Stores” in his home town of London for Western Fair Association until the age of 65. Jack served in the Middle East in 1956 and was part of the core group who set-up and founded the Canadian Peace Keepers. He received the Canadian Peace Keepers Medal, United Nations Emergency Force Medal and the Canadian Forces Decorations Medal and Clasp. He always wore his uniform proudly and conducted Remembrance Day Services for his church and local housing Co-Operatives. Jack passed away on March 13, 2012. RUSAW, Roland C. “Roly” Roland was born in Peterborough, Ontario on August 15, 1922. He enlisted in the Navy on May 11, 1942 and served as Stoker 1st Class on twelve ships in the Canadian and Royal Navy in the North Atlantic and Central Mediterranean area during World War II. One ship, the HMS Nabob was torpedoed by a Germany submarine on August 22, 1944. Roly went on to serve on six more ships. He was discharged on August 15, 1945. After the war, he worked at Eldorado. He and his wife, Betty May Young, raised five girls, Peggy, Shirley, Nancy, Alice and Heather. He was a member of Port Hope Legion Branch 30. Roly passed away on August 26, 1986. RUPERT, Thomas H. Thomas was born in Eldorado, Ontario on March 27, 1901. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment during World War II. Major Rupert was Paymaster for the Regiment. He was awarded the Canadian Efficiency Decoration in 1944. Thomas was a pharmacist in Madoc from 1927 to 1983. He was a member of Madoc Legion Branch 363 for many years. Thomas passed away on April 13, 1983.
