465 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND READ, Alan L. Alan was born in Whiteparish, United Kingdom on July 28, 1937. Alan joined the RAF on April 1, 1953 and served in England and Borneo. Alan was discharged as a Sergeant on April 30, 1967. He immigrated to Canada in 1967 and worked for 25 years as an aircraft maintenance engineer for Air Canada. He was a member of Sarnia Legion Branch 62 for 24 years. REED, Charles A. Charles was born in Eden Grove, Ontario on July 14, 1884. He enlisted in the Army on February 7, 1916 and served with the 160th Battalion Company A in Canada, England and France during World War I. He was discharged in March 1919. Charles has been a member of Chesley Legion Branch 144. He passed away on November 9, 1974. REASBECK, John Donald “Jack” Jack was born in Chapleau, Ontario on April 5, 1934. He enlisted in the Black Watch Regiment in 1953. In 1957, he transferred to the Royal Canadian Engineers and was honourably discharged in May 1979. He served in Canada, Egypt and Germany. He was a member of the Canadian Airborne Regiment. During his career he earned the Special Service Medal with NATO bar, Peacekeeper Medal, UNEF Medal, CD with Bar, and was a proud holder of Paratrooper Wings. Upon his discharge in May 1979, Jack continued to serve, he joined the Espanola Volunteer Fire Department. He also found time to organize the Espanola Army Cadet Corp, where he served as CO. Jack and Fern raised three daughters, one is presently still serving. Jack was a fifty year member of Branch 39, a Life Member and Past President of the Branch. He passed away on February 19, 2014.
