385 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McCURDY, Ross G. Ross was born in Chesley, Ontario on May 26, 1924. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in April 1943 and served in Canada and Alaska during World War II. After his discharge in June 1946, he returned to Chesley and worked with his father in the family business. He has been a member of Chesley Legion Branch 144. Ross passed away on November 4, 2000. McDONALD, Harvey Edward Harvey was born on November 11, 1924 in Orillia, Ontario. He enlisted with the CAC Trans. Canada Infantry Corps, Royal Canadian Regiment located in Toronto, Ontario on November 12, 1942. Harvey served in Canada, the United Kingdom and in the Central Mediterranean with the 1st Division of the Royal Canadian Regiment. He was discharged on March 15, 1946. Harvey was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the 1939-45 War Medal. He returned to Canada on the ship Scythia. He joined the Canadian Reserve Army in Orillia, Ontario with the Gray and Simcoe Foresters and was called back to active served as a recruiting Sergeant for the Korean War and then back to the Canadian Reserve. He was a member of Orillia Legion Branch 34 for forty years. Harvey passed away on December 16, 1987. McCURDY, William H. William was born in Vesta, Bruce County, Ontario in August 1891. He enlisted in the Army on February 12, 1916 and served with the 160 Battalion “A” Company in England and France during World War I. He was the first President of Chesley Legion Branch 144 and was a member for nineteen years. William passed away on February 7, 1948.
