333 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LAUZON, Frederick A. Frederick was born on January 12, 1897 in Summerstown, Charlottenburg Township, Ontario. He joined the 154th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force in Cornwall, Ontario on September 30, 1915. He served in Canada, England and France with the 4th CMR during World War I. Frederick received a gunshot wound to the right arm, upper third and a gunshot wound to the right side of his back. He was discharged on February 28, 1919. Fred married Maggie Atchison and they raised four children. He became a successful farmer and a member of John McMartin Memorial Legion Branch 297. Frederick passed away on December 18, 1978 and will be dearly missed by all. LE ROY, James A. James was born in Bloomfield, Ontario on March 17, 1897. He enlisted in the Army on October 23, 1915 and served with the 4th Canadian Division, Canadian Army Medical Corps and Canadian Machine Gun Corps in Canada, England and France during World War I. He was discharged on February 28, 1919. James was wounded in September 1918 and carried the bullet in his back until his death. After the war, he worked for the Dodge Brothers Motor Company and married Mildred Russelo in April 1921. They had two children, Robert (1923) and John (1931). James passed away on August 28, 1934. LAVIGNE, Lucien J. Lucien was born on April 18, 1924 in Hull, Quebec. He enlisted in the Army during World War II on November 9, 1942 in Ottawa, Ontario and proceeded to Peterborough, Ontario for basic training, then on to Camp Borden, ON for advanced training. Upon completion, he went to Windsor, Nova Scotia waiting to sail to England. On arrival, he was assigned to 45 General Transport and transferred to 2nd Division Ammunition and on to 2nd Army Tank Brigade RCASC 3rd Division. He then went to Normandy and Continental Europe. After the war, he volunteered for to stay with Army of Occupation for thirteen months until his return home to Ottawa on September 5, 1946 and was discharged a month later on October 16, 1946. He was also active with the Dominion Command Color Party for 29 years and has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 46 years.
