329 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LANDRY (HUMPHREY), Lucy Lenore Lucy was born in Strathroy, Ontario on January 30, 1943. She enlisted in the Navy on July 27, 1962 and served in Canada on HMCS Stadacona and Cornwallis. She trained as a radar/sonar operator during the blockade of Cuba. She was honourably released on January 23, 1963. Lucy married AB Seaman Andre Landry in 1962 and raised five children while farming in Appin, Ontario. She worked in many jobs over the years. She married V.G. Giberson in 2010 and they are now both retired. Lucy has been a member of Melbourne Legion Branch 510 for five years. LANGDON, Jack N. Jack was born in Port Robinson, Ontario on August 9, 1928. He joined the S.S. Bennington in September 1943, Cottrel Park from 1943-44. In June 1944 he joined Lasalle until 1945 until the end of war, then to Elm Park until 1946 and to Sutherland until March 1947. He served in Canada, the High Seas, England, France, Africa and Italy during World War II. From there he was discharged and went to School for maintenance and hospital engineer. Jack retired from York Central Hospital in 1990. A Legion member for over 54 years in numberous branches such as Montreal East Legion Branch 173, Richmond Hill Legion Branch 375, Lefroy-Belle Ewart Legion Branch 547. LANG, Wallace E. Flying Officer Wallace E. Lang was born on March 4, 1923 in Sarnia, Ontario. Wallace enlisted in the Air Force in March of 1943 and served with the Lancaster Bomber 459 Squadron during World War II. He was killed in a Lancaster Bomber flying accident in England on November 5, 1945. Wally had recently completed a Tour of Operation over Germany and Occupied Europe with his Lancaster Bomber Squadron. Growing up in Sarnia, Wally was active in promoting youth activities. The tragic loss of his generation that had so much promise and potential should never be forgotten.
