297 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HUMPHREY, Leo Roy Leo was born in Mt. Brydges on July 11, 1897. He was the brother of Earle Humphrey. He enlisted in the Army on December 7, 1915 and served with A Company 135th Battalion, 139 Highlanders, 19th Battalion, 134 Battalion, 1st Central Ontario in France, Belgium and England during World War I. Leo was injured in the arm and both legs in May 1917 and again in 1918 when his elbow was shot off resulting in him being sent to England in August 1918. He was awarded the British War Medal and the Great War for Civilization Medal. Leo was discharged on March 29, 1919. After the war, he married Edith Walker of Sheffield, England and raised six children. Howard joined the navy in WWII and Lucy became a WRCNS in 1962. Leo received a disability pension for his arm and did whatever job he could. He lived his entire life in Caradoc Township. Leo passed away on February 5, 1985. HUNTLEY, George Albert Eugene George was born in Raglan on January 2, 1916. He enlisted in the Army in 1939 and served with the 11th Armoured Regiment in England during World War II. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion. George passed away on August 16, 1966. HUNTER, Lorne W. Lorne was born in Georgetown, Ontario on November 13, 1923. He enlisted in the Army in November 1942 and served with 34 Corps Troops Co, RCASC in Normandy, Belgium, Germany and Holland during World War II. He was discharged in March 1946. Lorne returned to work at Domtar Papers in Georgetown where he retired. Lorne was married to his sweetheart Barbara for 59 years and lost her to cancer. They had one son, Gordon. In December 2014, by Order of the President of the Republic of France, Lorne was Awarded Rank of Knight of the French National Order of the Legion of Honour. He has been a member of Lt. Col. G.B.S. Cousens Legion Branch 120 for over fifty years.
