283 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HOOD, Robin J. Robin was born in Oxshott, Surrey, United Kingdom on July 11, 1933. He enlisted in the Army on August 15, 1951. He received his basic training at Oswestry, Shropshire and his Para Training at Abingdon, Berks. He served with the 33rd Para Field Regiment and was posted to Suez Canal and later returned to the UK after eleven months to Mons Officer Cadet School. He joined the RCR Militia ¾ Btn in Canada (1967-1971). RSM R. Britain could not fail to notice his maroon Beret and he received the Canal Zone Medal in 2012. Robin has been a member of Victory Legion Branch 317 for twelve years. HOPKINS, Carl Stacey Carl was born in Tobermory, Ontario on January 22, 1922. He enlisted in the Army on June 24, 1940 and served with the Highland Light Infantry in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during World War II. After his discharge on January 30, 1946, Carl returned to Tobermory where he built a boat and operated a Charter Boat Service. His medals include the Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 War Medal, the France and Germany Star and the Defence Medal. He has been a member of Tobermory Legion Branch 290. Carl passed away on May 19, 1962. HOOD, William Allan William was born on Lot 30, Concession 14, Howick Township on May 12, 1897 to William and Jane Hood of Clifford, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on May 31, 1916 and served during World War I. Private William Allan Hood died on August 28, 1918, at the age of 21, while serving with the Canadian Infantry (Manitoba Regiment), 43rd Battalion in Remy Wood, France. He is buried at Vis-en-Artois British Cemetery, Haucourt, Pas-de-Calais, France.
