227 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND GIRLING, Samual Robert “Sam” Samual was born in England. He enlisted in the Army in 1916. Sam entered World War I when very young, having falsified his age in order to enlist. He served in France during the war. After the war, Sam returned to civilian life in England until approximately 1982 when he immigrated to Canada to live with his daughter and son-in-law. His daughter, Alice, was a war bride and is still living and a member of Massey Legion Branch. GIZZI, Domenico J. Domenico was born in Ville Marie, Quebec on May 20, 1957. He enlisted in the Army in 1980 and served with the Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineer Branch. He served for over thirty years with the Regular Forces. Domenico was commissioned from the ranks as MWO to Captain. He also served three years as a reservist before retirement in 2011. GIVEN, William R. “Bud” Bud was born in Humberstone, Ontario on September 27, 1925. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Lake Superior Regiment in France, Holland and Germany during World War II. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 46 years. Bud passed away on November 28, 2011.
