205 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND FLETCHER, John J. John was born in Toronto, Ontario on December 14, 1913. He John Fletcher (Jack) moved the family to St Marys in 1915. He joined the Army for three years and served in England and Italy during World War II. He wrote home about working on the Churchill tanks and meeting old friends from St Marys. After the war, he worked for a short time at the St Marys Cement Company and then for Hammond Fuels, delivering coal. He was a member of St Marys Legion Branch 236. John was killed in a car accident in 1957. FOISEY, Kenneth R. “Ken” Ken was born on March 11, 1960. Ken joined the Naval Branch of the Canadian Forces in 1977 and retired in 2010. He spent most of his time in Esquimalt, British Columbia, two years in Ottawa, Ontario and most training in Halifax, Nova Scotia. There is no greater honour any man or woman can achieve then to say, “I Served”. FLETCHER, William William was born in Spring Mount Woomhill Chapel-en-le-Frith Barby, England on September 1, 1888. He came to Canada in 1912 from England. He married Jennie Evans from Wales in Toronto, had one child there, then moved to St Marys. He enlisted in the Army on September 17, 1915 and served with the 71st Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force in France during World War I. He was discharged on May 25, 1919. After the war, he returned and worked at the St Marys Cement Company for over 42 years. He lost two brothers, Frederick and James, in the war. William passed away on March 2, 1974.
