507 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WRAGG, David G. David was born in Oshawa, Ontario on February 12, 1924. He enlisted in the Army on March 29, 1943 during World War II. He joined the 11th Tank Battalion as a Private and was sent to England and Italy where he joined the Perth Regiment. He then travelled to France and onto Belgium and Holland then to Germany where he served at Nuremberg. David was discharged on July 11, 1945. He was awarded the Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, 19391945 Star and War Medal. After the war, he worked in Oshawa for Parkwood Estates owned by Mr. McLaughlin, founder of General Motors. David is a member of the Legion Branch 414 for twelve years. WRIGHT, Leonard F. “Len” Len was born in Udora, Ontario on December 14, 1920. He enlisted in the Army in 1939 with the Queens Own Rifles and served in England and France during World War II. He took basic training at Camp Borden and trained as a tank instructor. He landed on Juno Beach in Normandy on June 6, 1944 and was wounded. On return to Canada after his discharge in 1945, he farmed for a few years then went back to school and became a plumber. He joined the Legion in Mount Albert (382) then Sunderland (141) and was a member for more than twenty years. Len passed away on December 18, 2002. WREGGITT (LEITH), Esther I. Esther was born in Etwell, Muskoka, Ontario on December 15, 1923. She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force Women’s Division on February 2, 1943 and served in Canada during World War II. She took wireless course in Montreal and was sent back to Ontario to Burch, Brantford then to #4 W.S.F.S. in St. Catharines for the duration of the war in Europe training (ground to air) WAGS from Canada, Norway, England and Australia. After, she was sent to the east coast (Sydney) until the war was over in Japan then to Rockcliffe, Ottawa for discharge on August 21, 1945. Esther was a member of the Bowmanville Legion Branch 178 for 22 years.
