He enlisted in the Army on May 4, 1918 and signed on with the 72nd Queen’s Battery, Canadian Field Artillery in Kingston, Ontario. He was then dispatched Vancouver, British Columbia to await deployment to Russia. The war ended before he went overseas. He was discharged on May 5, 1919. Wilfred was a member of the Hornpayne Legion Branch 194 before he passed away in 1972. VEILLEUX, Alphee G. Alphee was born in Moonbeam, Ontario on December 3, 1923. He signed up in the “Horse Palace” in February of 1943. He served as a Gunner with the 105th Field Battery, Canadian Artillery in Canada (Gaspé, Quebec). He broke his ankle in a training accident the day before being shipped out to Europe. He saw no action and was destined to stay in Canada during his entire military career. He was discharged in May of 1946. He now resides in Kapuskasing. Alphee has been a member of Legion Branch 85 for 28 years. VANDERBY, Gerben Gerben was born in the Netherlands on December 13, 1924. He enlisted in the Army in June of 1945 and served in Indonesia during World War II. He was discharged in November of 1949. Gerben has been a member of the Port Perry Legion Branch 419 for 56 years.
