Military Service Recognition Book 476 ONTARIO COMMAND SWIECH, Stanley Stanley was born in Poland on June 27, 1920. He enlisted in the Air Force on January 2, 1942 and served during World War II. Stanley was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the Defence Medal. He was discharged on January 18, 1946. He was a member of the Waterford Branch 123. Stanley passed away on May 22, 2000. TALBOT, Frederick G. Frederick was born in Oxford, England on September 21, 1899. With his parents, he immigrated to Canada from England before the Great War started. Before his 18th birthday, he served 6 months in the Militia with the 2nd Battalion of the Queen’s Own Riffles. When he was eighteen, he enlisted on October 4, 1917 in the Army with the Canadian Army Service Corps serving in England and France. After the Armistice, he returned to Toronto and discharged on March 24, 1919. He then worked as a clerk with the Canadian National Railway, where he met and married his wife. Unfortunately, he passed away at 28 years old from Leukemia in 1927. TAILLEUR, Donald J. Donald was born on December 15, 1936 in Kapuskasing, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in Vancouver on December 2, 1955 while working in Powell River. He served with the rank of Private in Canada and in Germany with the P.P.C.L.I. Upon his discharge on December 1, 1958 in Vancouver, he returned to Kapuskasing to Work for the local paper company. He now resides in Kapuskasing.
