419 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PRIDHAM, Francis A. Francis was born on June 24, 1934 in Creemore, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on June 7, 1951 and served in Japan and Canada during the Korean War. He was discharged in September of 1955. He is proud to have served Canada. PRITCHARD, William W. “Bill” Bill was born on March 17, 1905 in Harriston, Ontario where he attended both public and high school. He took a business course in London, Ontario where he played hockey with the 12th Battery Intermediate Championship Team of 1926 – 1927. Bill served with the Army Service Corps after enlisting in August of 1940. He served as company Sergeant Major until his discharge in 1946. C.S.M. Pritchard also served as a War Finance Worker in Canada’s 9th Victory Loan. Upon return to civilian life, Bill operated a grocery business in his hometown of Harriston. He joined the Harriston Legion Branch and served six years on Town Council before his untimely death on July 12, 1950 at age 45. PRITCHARD, Raymond Raymond was born in Harriston, Ontario on May 20, 1898. He enlisted as a member of the Western Ontario Regiment, the Canadian Infantry 18th Battalion. In a letter dated August 1917 written to his mother, he was in England awaiting a draft notice for France. His troop would be sent to reinforce the 2nd Canadian Pioneers. He later writes of a terrible accident involving some of his comrades. Apparently they set the charge of a mine, but it exploded prematurely. Raymond was wounded in action and succumbed to his injuries on August 26, 1918 at the age of 20. He was laid to rest in Aubigny, France.
