415 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PRATT, Albert G. Albert was born on December 27, 1925 in Espanola, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on July 30, 1943. He worked for a few years before he joined the air force with his father’s permission. He went on to train in Brandon and Winnipeg, Manitoba. He came back to the East coast and did his ground gunnery at Quebec City. He then returned to #3 B & G at MacDonald, Manitoba where he received his wings as a Sgt. Air Gunner. In May of 1944, he went overseas on the Isle de France and he was stationed at Insworth. He did his first operational trip on November 6, 1944. On December 17, 1944, he was involved in a mid-air collision. Only three members of his crew, including himself, managed to make it out safely. All the crew members of the other aircraft died. Albert earned the 1939 – 1945 Star and the France and Germany Star. He passed away on June 20, 1997. PRESTON, Albert Albert was born on September 11, 1891 in London, England. He enlisted in the Army on December 16, 1915. He served in Canada, England and France with the 13th Platoon and the 160th Overseas Battalion. He was wounded in the right arm on October 12, 1918. He was awarded the G.C. Badge on December 16, 1917. He started a cigar and pool room in Tiverton, Ontario on November 30, 1920 and also had a contract to carry mail from Tiverton to Glammis. He was a member of the Tiverton Legion Branch 460 and the Kincardine Legion Branch 183 for 24 years. Albert passed away on November 2, 1972. PRESCOTT, Mary Mary was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. She went to school at Delta collegiate and she worked at the Right House Department Store after graduation. She joined the C.W.A.C. on her eighteenth birthday and served in Ottawa. She was asked to be in the Canadian Army show as a singer and dancer. They went overseas in May of 1945 and they performed in Belgium, Holland and Germany. At the end of the war, she returned to Hamilton Brantford to get married. She lived in Brantford where she studied to become a nurse and to raise their son. Her husband developed asthma, so they went to California and Arizona where they managed a trailer park for snowbirds. When her husband died nine years later, she moved to Vancouver and Victoria. After six years, she returned to Eastern Canada. She has been a Legion member off and on in various places. She has lived in Trenton, Elliot Lake, and now resides in Toronto at Sunnybrook.
