405 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PENNELL, Timothy F. “Tim” Tim was born on May 14, 1959 in Sudbury, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in August of 1977. He served with the P.P.C.L. – Air Bourne as a weapons technician. He served in Canada, Cyprus and Bosnia during Peacetime. He was discharged in August of 1996. Timothy is a member of the Chalk River Legion Branch and has been for two years. PERRY, Frank D. Frank was born on May 23, 1925 in London, United Kingdom. He enlisted in the Royal Navy on May 2, 1944. He served onboard the HMS Andes, HMS Gorgon and HMCS Minesweeper in the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean during World War II. He was discharged on March 7, 1947. PENNY, Albert C. “Bert” Albert served overseas in North Africa and Italy. As a regiment serving in Italy, they were part of the troop known as the D-Day Dodgers. While in Italy, he was injured in a firefight and was sent to England to recuperate. Time in England was spent being cared for by his sister whom he had not seen since he immigrated to Canada in 1912. Upon returning to health, he rejoined his regiment in Holland where he saw action and was responsible for guarding German prisoners of war. Albert enlisted in the Westminster Regiment in New Westminster, British Colombia. The regiment was sent to Camp Borden, Ontario for training prior to being deployed overseas. While stationed there, he met and married Laureta Mills. Shortly after the wedding, he was sent overseas not returning until after the war ended in 1945. Bert was discharged on October 10, 1945 at New Westminster, British Columbia. He then returned to Orillia, Ontario to rejoin his wife and see his daughter for the first time, whom had been born while Bert was overseas. Settling in Orillia, he worked for the province of Ontario and raised his family. He passed away on December 3, 1975.
