399 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND PARADIS, Edmond J. Edmond was born on July 13, 1918 in Lasarre, Quebec. He enlisted in the Army on August 25, 1940 and joined the No. 14 Forestry Company (CFC). He served in Canada and in the United Kingdom during World War II. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the 1939-1945 Medal. Ed was a Legion member of the Branch 85 for over 50 years. He was also a founding member of the Kapuskasing Credit Union. He coached broomball, was involved in hockey and enjoyed spending time with his family. Edmond passed away on January 6, 2008. PARK, George W. George was born on November 23, 1894 in Manchester, Ontario. He enlisted on November 17, 1915 in the Army. He served with the 116th Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force during World War I. George passed away on June 28, 1953. PARENT, Joseph A. Joseph was born on February 19, 1918 in Haileybury, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force with 425 Alouette Squadron on September 8, 1942. He served as a Flying Officer in Canada and in England during World War II. He became a prisoner of war when his plane was shot down on his twentieth trip. The pilot and flight engineer died in the crash and the remainder parachuted and lived. All were taken as prisoners. Joseph was repatriated by General Patton’s Army on May 5, 1945. A book was written about this crew, entitled “Frankenberg’s Canadian Airman”. Joseph was a member of the Legion Branch 85 for more than 45 years before he passed away on May 30, 2007.
