379 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND NASH, Robert G. Robert was born in Stratford, Ontario on May 30, 1960. He joined the Air Force Intelligence Branch on June 1, 1979. Lieutenant Colonel Robert Nash graduated Royal Military College of Canada in 1983 as an Aerospace Engineer and in 1988 retrained as an Intelligence Officer. Over 30 years, Robert served with NORAD twice, NATO twice, and as a Defence Intelligence Liaison Officer in Great Britain. He also deployed to Qatar in 1991 with Canadian Air Task Group Middle East, and to Bosnia in 1999 with Headquarters Stabilization Force. Robert Earned a Commander 1 Canadian Air Division Commendation for his contribution during the G8 Summit in 2002. Lt Col Nash retired from the Canadian Forces in 2009 and enrolled in the Royal New Zealand Air Force as an Intelligence Officer, a move facilitated by shared operating concepts, doctrine and procedures. Squadron Leader Nash graduated Joint Command and Staff College in 2012 as top student and currently serves as a Teaching Fellow in the Centre for Defence and Security Studies at Massey University. NELSON, Albert W. Albert was born in South Wales on July 29, 1913. He enlisted in the Army with the 4th Field Regiment from September 4, 1939 to January 10, 1946. Upon release he continued to serve as a Reservist in 1946 and then reenlisted in the Regular Forces from 1947-1965. Albert was mentioned in Dispatches for Distinguished Service. He was presented the Canadian Decoration Medal and the Coronation Medal. On Albert’s 100th birthday he was awarded the Palm Leaf from The Royal Canadian Legion, which is the highest medal that can be presented. Albert has been a member of Branch 106 in Hastings for 69 years. NEELY, Alfred Alfred was born in Ireland on November 30, 1921. He joined the Army on February 3, 1942 with the Irish Regiment of Canada Lanark Renfrew Regiment. Alfred served in Canada, England, France, Holland, Italy and Germany. He was discharged on October 28, 1945. Alfred is a Life Member of Milton Wesley Branch 426 in Newmarket, ON.
