377 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND NAKASHOJI, William M. William was born on March 13, 1944 in Slokan City, BC. William first joined the Algonquin Regiment (“A” Company) in Kapuskasing in 1958 and stayed in the Reserves until 1959 and then joined the regular forces. He joined the Army Signal Corps on March 13, 1960 and was discharged on March 13, 1966. Williams’s medals include United Nations Peace Keeping Medal. William worked for the local telephone company for 30 years and is now retired and living in Kapuskasing. NASH, Norman G. Norman was born in Toronto, Ontario on July 28, 1940. Norman was in the Army from February 1955 to October 1973 and then again from October 1983 to August 1994. Sgt. Nash joined the 48th Highlanders of Canada and was assigned to the Pipes and Drums as a Boy Drummer. Nash served a total of 29 years and retired in 1994. In his civilian life, Norman was employed as a printer at Toronto Hydro-Electric System. Alwyn Nash is his father. Norman is a member of Legion Branch 182. NASH, Alwyn Alwyn was born in Bristol England on September 17, 1895. He joined the Army with the 170th Battalion on April 12, 1916. Private Nash joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force and served in France and Great Britain. He was injured in France inhaling mustard gas and had a steel plate inserted in his left hand. Alwyn was discharged in 1919 and was told he might only survive 18 months. He promptly got married and had 9 children and survived to the age of 93. Alwyn worked as a horse and buggy bread delivery man and later as a milkman. He passed away on July 7, 1988.
