343 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McQUARRIE, Ranald H. Ranald was born in Caledonia, Ontario in 1866. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Engineers. Ranald passed away in 1934. McRAE, Ross E. Ross was born in Longford Mills, Orillia, Ontario on October 10, 1924. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1943. He served with 408 Goose Squadron, Group 6 RCAF and was based in England from 1943 to 1945 as a rear gunner. He volunteered in the Army and put in the RCAF in Toronto and trained at manning depot then sailed from Halifax. He served in France, Germany and Holland. He was not wounded in action. The seven man crew all flew back home safely. They were given the privilege of using K for King the Lancaster. They made so many sorties during their time of operations. Ross married in 1948 and had four children. He worked for 38 years at Domtar. He passed away on September 10, 2008 at the age of 84 from lung cancer. He was a member of the Legion Branch 34 in Orillia, ON for twenty years. McQUEEN, Peter G. Peter was born in Mt. Forest, Ontario, Egremont Township on November 22, 1922. He enlisted in the Army on February 9, 1942 and served with the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa, Ontario during World War II. He saw action in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was discharged on January 16, 1946. He was a member of the Holstein Legion Branch 319 for about 25 years and of the Mt. Forest Legion Branch 134 for fifteen years. Peter passed away on April 15, 2005.
