341 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McNAMARA, Joseph Joseph was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario on January 23, 1924. He enlisted in the Air Force in September of 1942 and served as an Air Frame Mechanic on the Eastern Coastal Command during World War II. In 1945, he volunteered for special assignment in Pacific however, prior to leaving, this was cancelled after the dropping of “A bomb”. Joe was transferred to Section E Reserve in October of 1945. H is now a Life Member of Branch 441 and an active volunteer at Branch functions. He has been a member of Branch 441 for 35 years. McQUARRIE, James A. James was born in Gore Bay on April 9, 1916. He served in the Army during World War II. James passed away on September 28, 1984. McNAUGHTON, Lorne A. Lorne was born in Woodham, Ontario on September 2, 1914. He enlisted in the Army on February 28, 1941 and served with the 1st Hussars during World War II. He saw extensive action through Holland and France in his role as a driver-mechanic with the Hussars. He used to say that he kept his tank running with spit, wire, tape and determination. He was a member of the St. Marys Legion Branch 236 for more than thirty years before he passed away on October 22, 2001.
