335 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McKELVEY, Alexander L. Alexander was born in Quebec on October 30, 1930. He enlisted in the Navy in 1951.Alex served with the third Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment. He went to Petawawa for basic training for three years and served for one year in Korea. He was on the front line for one month at a time and off for one month. He decided to stay in Korea for an extra six months after and was discharged in 1954. McKelvey was then the Supervisor of Security at GM for 25 years, 31 and a half years in total. Alexander has been a member of the A. C. McCallum Legion Branch 479 for sixty years. McKENNA, John C. John was born in Lisburn, Northern Ireland on March 22, 1931. John enlisted on September 7, 1948 and served during Peacetime in Canada and in the United Kingdom until his discharge on September 30, 2009. Having served in the air cadets, he joined the 2502 (Ulster) Royal Air Force Regiment that was an anti-aircraft regiment and reached the rank of Sergeant. John then transferred to the 661 (Ulster) Fd. Regiment RA TA and was promoted to Lieutenant. In 1957, he immigrated to Canada and joined the 29th SP Fd Regiment RCA (M) which became the 7th Toronto Regiment RCA (M) and became the CO in 1969, following that, he taught in the Militia Officers Training School, was DS in 1977 on the Nanaimo Block 12 Course and was DS on the Militia Command and Staff Course in Kingston in 1978 and 1981. He was President of the RCAA 1973, Chairman CDA 1987 – 1988, and Vice Chairman CIOR 1988-1992. He appointed the Lieutenant Colonel of 7th Toronto Regiment 1991-1992 and Honorary Colonel of 7th Toronto Regiment 1992-1999. In civilian life, he joined the Aero Division of Honeywell when he arrived in 1997 and over the years became the National Sales Manager for the Commercial Division until he retired in 1989. He has been a member of the Legion Branch 165 for 31 years. McKEND, Richard A. Richard was born in Cobourg, Ontario on August 4, 1925. He enlisted in the Air Force on September 18, 1943 and served in Canada and in England with the 432 Leaside Squadron during World War II. He was discharged in June of 1945. Richard was a member of the Millbrook Legion Branch 402 for 54 years before he passed away on April 27, 1998.
