321 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McADAM, Burton J. Burton was born in Chapleau on December 23, 1916. He enlisted in the Army on September 16, 1942 and served during World War II with the Prince of Wales Regiment in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was discharged on November 20, 1945. He returned to Chapleau and worked in the Car Dept of C.P Rail. He was married on January 30, 1952 to Olive Collings and had four children, three boys and one girl. He passed away on December 14, 1969 of heart failure. He was a member of the Harry Searle – Chapleau Legion Branch. McARTHUR, Pierson C. Pierson was born in Martintown, Ontario on December 22, 1890. He joined the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on November 15, 1915 at Kingston, ON and was assigned to 46th Battery, (Queens Battery) Canadian Field Artillery. On February 5, 1916, he departed Canada on the Metagama from St. John, NB; arrived at Ypres on July 19; arrived at the Somme on October 7; left the Somme and moved North to Arras and Vimy Ridge on November 26; Moved to 33rd Battery on March 25, 1917; the Battle of Vimy Ridge is successful on April 7-11; was wounded at Hill 70 and was mistakenly reported as KIA on August 4; arrived at No 7 General Hospital at St. Omer for treatment on August 6; was declared fit and return for duty on September 22; moved up to Ypres and into action at Passchendaele on October 13; returned to Vimy in January of 1918; Canadian Corps was moved near Arras in August of 1918. He was discharged in February of 1919. As Doctors were badly needed, he was returned to Canada to enter medicine at Queen’s University. Pierson passed away on March 3, 1972. McALLISTER, Roy M. Roy was born in Elderslie Township, Bruce County on April 7, 1918. He enlisted in the Army in March of 1942 and served with the Essex Scottish Regiment in Canada and in Europe during World War II. He was discharged in September of 1945. Roy was a member of the Chesley Legion Branch 144 for forty years until he passed away on June 7, 1999.
