301 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MacKENZIE, Leslie Borden Leslie was born in Amherst, NS on April 30, 1920, one of ten children. He was married on December 27, 1940 and had one daughter. He enlisted in the Army on July 2, 1941 and served in the Britain, Central Mediterranean Theatre. While serving with the West Nova Scotia Regiment, Leslie was accidentally killed by friendly fire on December 27, 1943. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the War Medal 1939-45. MacLEAN, Everett S. “Red” Everett was born in Hopefield, PE on December 3, 1937. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in August 1955 and retired in January 2002 but remained active with the Air Cadet Movement. He retired from the Active Forces as a Chief Warrant Officer and the Reserve as Major. Flight engineer by trade, Everett accumulated over 13 000 flying hours. He was presented the Desert Storm Medal by Saudi Arabia and the Freedom of Kuwait Medal by Kuwait. He served in the Desert Storm and presented the Canadian Medal with Bar, the Canadian Forces’ Decoration with three Bars, the NATO Medal with Bar and the Queen Jubilee Medal. “Red” was a Legion member for 47 years, and involved at Branch 110 Trenton as President at the time of his death in January 2015. MacKENZIE, Roy Roy was born on October 7, 1925 in Bruce Mines, ON. He joined the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in May 1944 and served in Italy, France and Germany during World War II. In May 1946, he was discharged and was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the Italy Star and the France and Germany Star. Roy was a Life Member of Bruce Mines Legion Branch 211 until he passed away on May 28, 2012.
