285 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LEPAGE, Omer E. Omer was born on January 13, 1920 in the Parkinson Township, Algoma, Ontario. He joined the Essex Scottish Regiment in April 1941. He saw action in Europe during World War II and was wounded in Germany in February 1944. His awards include the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the France and Germany Star, and the 1939 War Medal. LETHBRIDGE, Guy L. W. Guy was born on July 12, 1898 in Owen Sound, ON. He joined the Boys Bugle band of the 31st Regiment in December of 1912 and went to Camp Niagara. In 1914, he tried to enlist in the 35th Battalion, but the recruiting officer told him he would have to eat a bushel of flour before he would be big enough. He enlisted in the Army Medical Corps in 1917, and was later transferred to the 147th Battery of the Canadian Expeditionary Force #5 platoon, B Company. After a two week stay at Camp Borden because of illness, they were sent to England and France as replacements for those killed or injured at Vimy Ridge, Ypres, and Passchendaele. Guy was discharged in 1919 and worked as a marine engineer on the Great Lakes boats for Imperial Oil. In 1928, he married Ann Plaunt, they had three daughters and lived in Sarnia. He worked at the Salt Block and retired from Polysar. Guy was a member of Owen Sound Legion Branch before he passed away on March 20, 1981. LESLIE, Alfred B. Alfred was born on January 16, 1919 in Niagara Falls, ON. He joined the Canadian Army Service Force on April 9, 1942 and served Canada, England, Holland and Germany during World War II. He served on Coastal Submarine Watch in Canada, as a dispatch rider in England, with the Tank Corps in Holland and Belgium and the Military Police in Germany. He was discharged on March 6, 1946 and was a member of Dunnville Legion Branch 142 for 26 years. Alfred passed away on January 3, 2011.
