271 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND KNOWLES, Thomas N. Thomas was born on January 28, 1891 in Sarnia, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in 1915. He served with the Canadian Mounted Rifles as a Private in Belgium during World War I. He was sent overseas in 1916 and posted as re-enforcements for the Royal Canadian Dragoons at the rank of Staff Corporal. Thomas was killed in action on March 30, 1918 at the Battle of Moreuil Woods. KRUGER, August W. August was born on August 23, 1928 in Gore Bay, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army. He served with the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. He was discharged on April 15, 1951. After his discharge he worked at a service station, in the construction industry, and 20 years with the Robert Simpson Company, retiring in June 1985. He moved to Cambray, ON with his wife. He raised five children. August has been a member of Sir Sam Hughes Legion Branch 67 for 29 years. KOPPERSON, Robert A. Robert was born on May 24, 1945 in Kitchener, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in June 1962. He served with the Scots Fusiliers of Canada and the Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada. He left the Forces in May 1969 because of injuries and disabilities suffered in an accident on Civvy Street. Robert has been a member of Fred Gies Legion Branch 50 for 4 years.
