253 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND JOHNSON, Vaughn B. Vaughn was born in Coe Hill, Ontario on July 10, 1928. He volunteered for military duty in the Canadian Army in 1950. He was enrolled in the Army Service Corps and served in Canada and in the Republic of South Korea during the Korean War. Following his basic training and trades training, he was sent to Korea. His duties consisted of driving rations, fuel and ammo trucks with the 54th Transport Company RCASC. He was discharged from the army in 1952. He was later employed as a CNR conductor on freight trains and later with VIA rail from Windsor to Toronto. He is retired and lives with his wife Elaine in Windsor. Vaughn is a member of the Windsor Legion Branch 255. JOHNSTON, F. Clifford Clifford was born on January 17, 1924 in Elma Township, ON. He enlisted in the Army on July 7, 1943. He received his basic training in Listowel, ON. He served with the Royal Canadian Medical Corps in the United Kingdom, North West Europe, Belgium and Holland during World War II. He was discharged on April 1, 1946. In civilian life, Clifford worked for Canada Packers, at various creameries throughout Ontario, for 45 years. He was a manager for 33 of those years, of which 23 years were spent at the Dairy Plant in Harriston, ON. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the Defence Medal, the France and Germany Star, and the Victory Medal. Clifford has been a member of Harriston Legion Branch 296 for 65 years. He was very active and served on various committees as well as serving as Past President from 1957-59. JOHNSTON, Donald Keith Donald was born in August 23, 1921 in Laird Township, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in 1942. He served with the Provost Corps. The war ended before he was sent overseas but he patrolled on the trains for the military police in Canada for soldiers absent without leave. Donald was discharged in August 1945.
