251 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND JOHNSON, Catherine N. Catherine was born in Windsor, Ontario on April 24, 1961. She is the daughter of Vaughan Johnson, a veteran of Korea and niece of Henry Johnson, a veteran of RCN in World War II. Her grandfather saw service in World War I with the CEF in Europe. She joined the Canadian Army on September 23, 1983 and served as a medical assistant for one year and then transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force. She has served in various units in Cold Lake, Alberta from 1985-1987, 1987-1989 and 1997-2007; Baden-Soellingen, Germany from 1989-1993; Winnipeg from 1993-1997; Edmonton from 2010-2014 and from 2014 to present in Cold Lake. While with 409 Squadron in Germany, she saw service in the Gulf War I in Operation Desert Shield. She is still serving and recently promoted to Warrant Officer. She has been a member of the St. Albert Legion Branch 271 in Alberta for five years. JOHNSON, Harold James Harold was born on August 28, 1919 in Wyoming, ON. He enlisted in the Army on April 17, 1941. He served with the 2 Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment, 11th Battery in Canada, Britain, Holland and Germany during World War II. Gunner Johnson was discharged on November 13, 1945. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the War Medal 1939-45. He was a Life Member of Leslie Sutherland Legion Branch 447 for 60 years. Harold passed away on February 10, 2006. JOHNSON, Harold H. Harold was born in Coe Hill, Ontario in 1887. He enlisted in the Army in 1914 and served during World War I. He volunteered for the Canadian Expeditionary Force in World War I, trained in Canada, Great Britain and finally went to France and later Belgium in the Forestry Corps. He was fortunate to survive the war and was honourably discharged in 1918. He went to Calgary and opened a pool hall and later a barber shop. He later returned to Coe Hill and became a station agent for CN Rail. He had three sons who became veterans of World War II and Korea. Harold passed away in 1954 and is buried in Coe Hill.
